These sessions were preceded by several demo sessions and the replacement of Cliff Martinez with Jack Irons. Michael Beinhorn produced: he's credited as a writer on “Behind the Sun” and also co-wrote the vocal melody for “Fight Like A Brave.” The album's recording budget was $120,000.

According to this blog post by Michael Beinhorn, one of the songs the band worked on prior to the recording of the album had this working title. What song on Uplift Mofo it ended up becoming - if any of them - is unknown.
