The main bulk of the album was recorded in September 2018 with extra sporadical sessions in between touring with the Red Hot Chili Peppers until it was finished in August 2019. Seventeen songs were finished and recorded during the sessions, so one song remains unreleased.

While not confirmed, it’s possible that song is “Ceylon” as the credits show that it was also recorded during this timeframe by Eric Palmquist at Palmquist Studios. The song was specifically written around the time warp effect pedal for inclusion on the Tensor Tracks compilation by Red Panda Lab.

“You Don’t Know What You’re Doing” and “Overflowing” were originally exclusive to the vinyl single included on the deluxe bundle of the album. “Obscene” and “Fairy Tale” were originally exclusive to the vinyl single shipped worldwide for free as a holiday gift to the first 250 people that signed up to the fanclub. The four b-sides were later released digitally on March 19, 2020.
